6063 aluminum profiles T5 and T6 main difference

The 6063 aluminum alloy is a moderate strength heat treatment strengthening alloy in the AL-Mg-Si series. Mg and Si are the main alloying elements. 6063 alloy is widely used, especially in the construction industry, which is the most promising alloy.

6063 T5

The temper that is cooled by a high temperature forming process and then is artificially aged, is applied to a product that is artificially aged without cold processing (which can be straightened, leveled without affecting the limit of mechanical properties) after a high temperature molding process.

6063T6

The temper of artificial aging after solid solution heat treatment is suitable for products without cold processing (which can be straightened, leveled without affecting the limit of mechanical properties) after the cooling of high temperature forming process.

Extension rate              8%

 

Although the two tempers are different in definition, but for 6063 alloy, there is no big difference. It is mainly reflected in the difference of mechanical properties. Considering the use of the product, if the requirements of hardness or force are higher, the temper of T6 can be selected, if it is unstressed, the temper of T5 can be selected.
